Samsung Display has announced the start of mass production of the world’s first 34-inch 360Hz QD-OLED panel. It comes with a “V (Vertical)-Stripe” shaped pixel structure. It is worth remembering that the company has been supplying panels to seven global monitor manufacturers, such as ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte, since December 2025.

The new V-Stripe structure aligns red, green and blue (RGB) subpixels vertically, in contrast to the conventional triangular arrangement of subpixels used in current QD-OLED technology.

It was independently developed by Samsung Display for quantum dot elements. The V-Stripe structure improves the sharpness of text edges, making it ideal for users who perform text-intensive tasks such as document editing, programming, or content creation.

The new panel features an ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio, 360Hz refresh rate for ultra-smooth motion and fast response, and peak brightness of 1,300 nits. These features should interest gamers looking for fast, highly immersive gaming experiences, especially sports and racing titles.

Compared to a 16:9 screen, a 21:9 aspect ratio generally increases the number of horizontal pixels and the volume of data processed. This results in higher power consumption, higher heat generation, and higher operational demands, even at the same refresh rate.

In other words, maintaining signal uniformity between the left and right pixels is also a technical challenge, making it difficult to obtain high refresh rates.

Debut at CES 2026

The V-Stripe QD-OLED monitor will be presented at CES 2026, which begins next Tuesday, January 6, in Las Vegas. ASUS and MSI will also introduce new monitor models with these panels, while Samsung Display will demonstrate the technology at its exclusive booth at the Encore at Wynn hotel during the event.

The share of products equipped with self-emissive panels in the premium monitor segment priced above US$500 (R$2,757.75) should increase from 14% in 2024 to 23% in 2025 and to 27% in 2026. And this should accelerate the industry’s transition from LCD to OLED.

In this context, Samsung Display’s QD-OLED shipments for the display OLED panel market in 2025 should reach 2.5 million units, with a dominant share of 75%.
