Sabrent’s New microSDXC Cards Can Capture 8K Video

Sabrent has announced its new Rocket V60 line of microSDXC memory cards. As the name suggests, they offer write speeds of up to 60MB/s, allowing you to capture video at up to 8K resolution in real time.

The new cards come in capacities of 128GB, 256GB and 512GB, and are aimed especially at those who work with photography, video or content creation in general. In addition to the speed specification, the Sabrent Rocket V60 cards also carry the A1 seal for IOPS, which ensures efficient management of various types of files.

The manufacturer also highlights the backwards compatibility of its new line of microSDXC cards. They are made in the UHS-II standard, but also work in UHS-I slots. Therefore, they are compatible with most current smartphones, as well as several other devices. Sabrent also mentions “portable gaming systems”, which certainly includes the Nintendo Switch.

Sabrent’s Rocket line also appears on PC

Desktop PC enthusiasts don’t typically use microSD cards, but you may have heard of Sabrent’s Rocket line. That’s because the manufacturer uses the same name for its SSD solutions – which includes even the latest models, which support PCIe Gen 5.

In February of this year, the brand was one of the first to announce an SSD reaching read speeds of up to 14GB/s, with the M.2 NVMe Rocket 5 SSDs.

For the truly hardcore users, Sabrent has gone one step further with the Apex X16 Rocket 5 Destroyer, a board capable of connecting up to 16 M.2 SSD drives. Using components from the same line with 4TB each, it would be possible to achieve 14TB of high-performance capacity. Read more here.
