Ryzen Ai 5 330 is now official: AMD’s new cheapest option for notebooks with AI

AMD has just made the Ryzen AI 5 330 official, its new most affordable option for AI notebooks. The processor appeared in a leakage earlier this month, but is now listed on the company’s official website, bringing details of its specifications.

The information on the site confirms what already appeared in the leak. It is interesting, however, that on the page for Ryzen AI 5 330 A Amd lists the code name Krackan Point, which is a Krackan Point 2 CPU. Below, the highlights of its characteristics:

• 4 cores (8 threads): a Zen 5 + three Zen 5C
• Clock base: 2GHz
• Clock Boost: Up to 4.5GHZ
• Cache L3: 8MB
• Configurable TDP: 15W to 28W
• Graphics: Radeon 820m – 2 Compute Units, RDNA 3.5

Possibly the main highlight for Ryzen AI 5 330 is that, despite being the new “weak” option of the Ryzen Ai 300 series, the processor still comes with an XDNA 2 NPU.

APU Krackan Point 2 uses the same neural processing unit present in any strix point. Thus, it offers up to 50 tops of AI performance, according to AMD.

The number is exceeding the minimum required by Microsoft to call a Copilot+ PC notebook or computer, which should appear in the promotional material of future devices equipped with the new Ryzen.

The big question at the moment is which devices will be. Videocardz people are already raising the possibility of chromebooks and other simple and affordable notebooks that are often offered in schools.

AMD’s latest release in the segment was from the Ryzen 7000 series, also known as Mendocino. These processors still used Zen 2 and RDNA 2 nuclei, so Ryzen AI 5 330 should offer very visible improvements when compared to this generation.
