The new Ryzen AI 400 series of AMD notebook processors could make their debut as early as next week. This is what the listing of ASUS notebooks in China indicates, which supposedly arrive equipped with the new APUs on January 22nd. The date positions the new components for a launch before the new Intel Panther Lake.
We had two different ASUS notebooks appear, which helps the possibility of the leak being correct. One of the models was even found on the official ASUS website at JD.com, one of the largest stores in China. The other appears in an ASUS promotional image that appears legitimate.
In both cases, the same processor from the Ryzen AI 400 series appears, the Ryzen AI 7 445. According to information from Tom’s Hardware, it is a component with 6 cores and 12 threads, with a boost clock of up to 4.6GHz and 14MB of L3 cache. The integrated graphics are provided by 4 CUs based on RDNA 3.5 and the NPU XDNA 2 promises up to 50 TOPS of performance.
The details draw attention because the Ryzen AI 7 445 will be the first Ryzen 7 that AMD has ever made with fewer than 8 cores. We don’t yet know if this is an atypical case or if we will see more variants like this from now on.
Ryzen AI 400 brings a refresh of the last generation
Scheduled to launch on January 22, the Ryzen AI 400 will arrive 5 days before the Intel Core Series 3, also known as Panther Lake. AMD’s new processors, however, do not bring the same generational leap as Intel’s competitors.
The new Ryzen series for notebooks is actually a refresh of previous models. The processors are codenamed Gorgon Point and were confirmed by AMD itself last year as revised versions of the already available Strix Point – the Ryzen AI 300 series.

Therefore, no major evolution is expected for this generation from AMD. Panther Lake, meanwhile, debuts Intel’s all-important new 18A manufacturing process, and there’s a lot of anticipation for what the company plans to offer to promote its new technology.
