Ryzen AI 300 “Krackan Point” appears in leak with 8 Zen 5 cores

AMD’s upcoming line of Ryzen AI 300 APUs has just appeared in new leaks. The series is currently known as Krackan Point (or Kraken), and should bring more affordable Zen 5-based processor options. A benchmark listing and shipping manifest reveal details about future products.

The information comes from Everest (@Olrak29_). This is an account known for correct leaks, but it is worth noting that we are not talking about official data yet. He publishes a listing on OpenBenchmarking that details an AMD CPU engineering sample with eight Zen 5 cores and 16 threads.

The acronym KRK in the listing appears to indicate a Krackan Point product. According to Tom’s Hardware, this should be the most advanced model among the Ryzen AI 7 300, which arrive next year. Furthermore, according to previous leaks, there would be four Zen 5 and four Zen 5c cores.

In addition to the details in the benchmark, Everest also shows us a capture of the transport manifest with two PRO models – a Ryzen 7 and a Ryzen 5. They appear with a TDP of 28W and compatible with AMD’s FP8 socket. What draws attention here is, once again, the confirmation of support for LPDDR5X-8000.

Will Ryzen Krackan Point appear at CES 2025?

A roadmap leak from AMD confirms that we will see Krackan Point processors in early 2025, so it is clear that the biggest bet is on CES 2025. The event takes place in January and is usually the stage for the announcement of several new products.

The new Ryzen AI 300 series based on this line features the same XDNA 2 NPU as the Strix Point, in addition to Zen 5 cores and a GPU based on RDNA 3.5. Therefore, even though it has a lower color count than currently available products, it should be an interesting upgrade compared to Phoenix Point processors, which currently occupy this price range.
