Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D will have similar performance to Ryzen 7 9800X3D in games

An AMD executive revealed that the company’s new 3D V-Cache processors – the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and the Ryzen 9 9900X3D – do not offer much better performance than the Ryzen 7 9800X3D in games. They should do better in some titles and even a little worse in others, offering a similar final experience, according to the brand representative.

The information came from Martijn Boonstra, product and business development manager at AMD. He said the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D offer “general gaming performance similar to the 9800X3D.” He adds that titles that take advantage of more cores and threads will do better on the new models, while games that favor single-CCD configurations will do better with the 9800X3D.

The statement may cause some surprise, as the processors will be more expensive. AMD has not yet revealed its official prices, but with their higher core counts and cache capacity, it is clear that the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D will see a price increase.

Ryzen 9 9950X3D should attract audiences interested in more than games

It may seem strange for a processor that offers similar performance in the same line to cost more, but the point is that Boonstra was specific about gaming performance.

Basically, the AMD executive implied that users looking to build a PC to play above all else have the Ryzen 7 9800X3D as their best option. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D will bring more performance to heavy users of other applications, seeking maximum performance also for productivity.
