The Ryzen 9 9900X, AMD’s next-generation high-end desktop CPU, has had promising benchmark results leaked online. The processor appeared running on Geekbench 6, and managed to score more points in the single-core test than the Core i9-14900KS.

The result becomes even more interesting when we highlight that AMD’s processor has a TDP of 120W and a lower clock speed than its competitor. The Ryzen 9 9900X tested appears with 12 cores and 24 threads, with a base clock of 4.4GHz and a boost of up to 5.6GHz. In these configurations, the CPU scored 3,401 points, compared to the average of 3,200 points usually achieved by the 14900KS.

Moving on to the multi-thread score, the numbers are less impressive, but still positive for the processor. It achieved 19,756 points, considerably less than the Core i9-14900KS, but not so far behind the 14900K.

It is interesting to note that the results were obtained with Intel processors running outside the Baseline profile, which was established to help with CPU stability. The configuration significantly reduces the performance of the components.

Another interesting perspective for the new processor’s results is comparing between AMD generations. The Ryzen 9 9900X could be considered the successor to the Ryzen 9 7900X, so its advantages are relevant.

While the TDP is reduced from 170W to 120W, the Geekbench results improve by double digits. According to WCCFTech, we have 16% more points in the single-core test and an 11% higher score in multi-thread. The Ryzen 9 7900X also appears in the comparative charts.

While the Geekbench results are promising, they do raise some curiosity about how well the processors will perform when overclocked. Rumors and leaks have been pointing to advanced overclocking capabilities in the Ryzen 9000 lineup, so it will be interesting to see what results enthusiasts will be able to get from the Zen 5-based CPUs.
