One of the processors with 3D V-Cache that we hope to see at the AMD event at CES 2026 has just had a more or less official confirmation. The Ryzen 7 9850X3D now appears listed on the company’s website, ahead of its full announcement, basically confirming that we will see the product soon.
As the name suggests, the Ryzen 7 9850X3D should be an accelerated variant of the 9800X3D, AMD’s most popular current-generation 3D V-Cache processor. We therefore hope that the 8 cores with 16 threads and the large cache of 96MB will be maintained, but with a higher clock rate than the 5.2GHz (boost) of the standard model.
Unfortunately, the listing of the 9850X3D on the AMD website is not accompanied by details of its specifications, so we have no confirmations regarding technical details. Previous leaks point to a boost clock of up to 5.6GHz, but we’ll have to wait for official information.
Appearance of the Ryzen 7 9850X3D reinforces chances for the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2
It is interesting to remember that the Ryzen 7 9850X3D began to circulate in rumors accompanied by another new 3D V-Cache processor model, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2.
While the 9850X3D will probably be the most popular option, based on an already very successful product, the 9950X3D2 draws attention for the possibility of finally introducing dual 3D V-Cache on an AMD CPU.
So far we don’t have more specific details or leaks about the component, but the X3D2 in the name certainly seems to indicate some change in how the extra cache is installed in this variant.

As mentioned previously, we expect to see an official announcement of these processors at CES 2026 next month. They should also appear accompanied by the new Ryzen 9000G series of processors, the desktop version of AMD’s current APUs.
