UPDATE: The PassMark result was “accidentally” forged. The authors of the feat took to Reddit to explain how it happened. In short, they were precisely testing the ease of forging a result in benchmarks and ended up submitting the falsified test to the Passmark database.

Original: If the leaks that have appeared about future AMD processors are correct, there will be no shortage of 3D V-Cache CPU options in 2026. This time we have the appearance of a Ryzen 7 9700X3D, in results from the PassMark performance test. The component is listed with 8 cores and 16 threads.

Based on the name and core count, we can estimate that the Ryzen 7 9700X3D will probably be a similar version to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, but with less clock speed and a more affordable price. It’s like AMD already did with the Ryzen 7 5800X3D and 5700X3D in the previous generation.

Focusing on the results that appeared in PassMark we can see that the CPU scored 40,438 in multithread and 4,687 in single-thread, clocked at 5.8GHz. Therefore, these numbers do not seem to indicate the processor’s default configuration – the clock is very high and the score would place it slightly above 9800X3D, which makes no sense.

Ryzen 7 9700X3D could be another indicator of success in the segment

The Ryzen 7 9700X3D is yet another 3D V-Cache component in a list of recent AMD leaks. We already have information that the company is preparing a Ryzen 5 7500X3D and also the more advanced Ryzen 7 9850X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, which could be the first X3D with double 3D V-Cache.

If the information is confirmed, we will have a total of three X3D options with 8 cores. The already launched Ryzen 7 9800X3D, a new option with a higher clock rate 9850X3D and a more affordable 9700X3D.

Three very similar variants of the same component are a strong indication of the success that AMD sees in the segment. It is a situation where the company does not face direct competition with Intel, according to VideoCardz, and we can see the impact of this with the new components being prepared.

We have rumors that AMD will present its new processors with 3D V-Cache at CES 2026, in January. Even if this is true, we still need to wait and see if we will see all the products that have appeared in leaks or just some of them.
