MSI will offer an adapter for the power connection to its most advanced RTX 50 cards. The idea is not only to facilitate the installation of GPUS, but also promoting greater security to users. This is because these adapters bring yellow ends that can help avoid poorly fitted connections.
As shown in the image below, all the RTX 50 series by MSI bring an adapter. However, the RTX 5070 features an 8 -pin double connection adapter to a 16, and keeps the part that goes on the black plate.
From the RTX 5070 Ti onwards, the 16 pins that connects on the plate is yellow. The RTX 5070 Ti and 5080 models feature adapters with three 8 -pin connections on the other side, while the RTX 5090 reaches four.
The idea of ​​painting the yellow connector is very simple. MSI believes this helps to visualize whether the connector is correctly on or not, because the user can easily check whether the entire yellow part “disappeared”. If the vibrant color still appears, it is because it is not well connected.
MSI’s solution is a clear response to the problems that affected 12VHPWR connectors at the beginning of the past generation. Poorly installed connections caused overheating and melting of plastic, resulting in serious risk of fires.
MSI tries to offer a simple solution that reaches until the RTX 5070 Ti. It is the second AIB that we have known with a security resource, as Zotac released its new warning light earlier this month.
