RTX 5050 for notebooks should coexist with the RTX 4050 as a more expensive option [RUMOR]

The RTX 5050 for notebooks should not simply replace the RTX 4050 in its price segment, but rather coexist with the already launched GPU as a more powerful and, therefore, more expensive option. The information does not officially come from NVIDIA or a “leaker”, as usual, but from a Lenovo executive.

Lenovo’s product manager shared his reflection on the Chinese social network Weibo. The post is now circulating on the internet in its machine-translated version. Even though it is not a perfect translation, the information and reasoning brought by the executive are simple to understand.

“RTX 4050 notebooks will be the only 40 series notebooks that NVIDIA will continue to offer after the launch of the 50 series graphics card,” says the post. “(…) the coexistence of the 4050 and 5050 means that they will most likely not have the same price, with the newer one being increased.”

Lenovo’s product manager speaks with conviction that the RTX 4050 will be the only current GeForce for notebooks to be maintained after the launch of the new Blackwell-based series. Therefore, instead of the RTX 5050 being the entry-level option, it is the previous GPU that will become the most affordable hardware in the new generation.

According to leaks about the new generation NVIDIA graphics cards aimed at notebooks, the RTX 5050 seems to actually bring an interesting increase in relation to the RTX 4050.

According to Tom’s Hardware, the RTX 5050 appears with ID GN22-X2 and employs a GB207 GPU. Furthermore, the component incorporates 8GB of GDDR7 memory – that is, 2GB more and a newer generation than the 6GB GDDR6 available on the RTX 4050 mobile.
