Last week, the Anatel gave his seal of approval to ROG Ally Xthe latest portable console from Asus. With this approval officially granted, Asus is now allowed to start selling its product in Brazil.

The much-touted ROG Ally X, which is already a reality in several markets around the world, represents a notable evolution in relation to the first model of the company’s portable console, incorporating significant improvements.

ROG Ally X Settings

According to the information contained in the certification document issued by Anatel, the ROG Ally X is produced in China. Asus has manufacturing facilities in Brazil where products such as the powerful ROG Strix Scar 18 notebook, priced at R$33,000, are assembled, as well as other models belonging to the ROG family and a variety of hardware components.

Following the same path taken by the original model, the ROG Ally X will also reach the Brazilian market through import, a factor that will inevitably affect the final price to the consumer in Brazil.

The Asus ROG Ally X brings with it noteworthy advances, highlighting the issue of the battery, which saw its energy capacity expanded impressively: it jumped from 40 WHr to a substantial 80 WHr.

In the previous model, battery life was a critical aspect, as it only provided 3 hours of battery life — a much shorter duration when compared to the 8 hours offered by the Steam Deck, which is its main rival in the segment.

Increase RAM and Storage

There was also a considerable increase in the amount of RAM memorygoing from an already generous 16 GB to an impressive 24 GB, compiled by the technology giant Samsungwhile the storage solution now boasts an astonishing 1TB, powered by an efficient M.2 NVMe SSD.

Given the growing demand imposed by modern games, having 1 TB becomes practically indispensable for enthusiasts who want to have a comprehensive collection of AAA titles stored.

When it comes to the heart of the device, the processor remains faithful to the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extremeaccompanied by graphics based on the RDNA 3 architecture, with no changes compared to its predecessor. Considering that the performance achieved was already reaching commendable levels and, considering the absence of a successor chip developed by AMD for the Ryzen Z1, this essential component remains the sovereign choice for handheld devices currently available on the market.

In terms of ergonomics and design, the ROG Ally X registers a slight increase in weight, registering 678 g on the scale — an additional difference of 70 g. This increase is justified by the improvements applied to the battery and memory, as well as the introduction of new speakers and a slight increase in the dimensions of the device, which now measures 280 mm x 111 mm x 36.9 mm.

When will it be released?

Expectations are high for the big reveal of the ROG Ally X during the Brasil Game Show 2024, scheduled to take place between October 9th and 13th. At the previous edition’s event, Lenovo made a splash by presenting its own competitor in this market niche, the Legion Go. In line with its Chinese competitor, the ROG Ally X comes standard with the Windows 11 operating system, ready to win the hearts of gamers.
