In its fiscal report for the first quarter of 2025, Intel revealed that its Raptor Lake line, which began in 2022, has been more popular than its latest products. By opting for older – and cheaper – CPUs, consumers have made CPUs more prepared for artificial intelligence not to register expected sales.

This has produced additional difficulties for the company, which is unable to meet the demand for older components. This is because it has a reduced production capacity for chips that use the Intel 7 process – something she believes will not change in the near future.

In its tax report, Intel attributes this to a “Unexpected increase” for products from N-1 and N-2 linescorresponding to the Raptor Lake generation. The company also states that the search for older products has been intensified by the tariffs announced by the US presidency, which have made many consumers anticipate purchases at the prospect of price increases.

Michelle Johnston Holthaus, CEO of the Intel Products Division, said the situation will not change the company’s plans to the Panther Lake line, which should debut in late 2025. Although he said he believed the new products will be well-received by the commercial market, the executive did not mention the possibility of becoming popular between laptops aimed at a broader audience.
