Radeon RX 9070 XT has results close to the RTX 4080 Super in preliminary 3DMark tests

AMD promised performance comparable to the RTX 4070 Ti and Super when it announced its new Radeon RX 9070 XT and non-XT series of graphics cards. Leaked preliminary benchmark results, however, show that the card can be compared to an RTX 4080 Super.

The results are unofficial and appear in low quality screen photographs. It’s always good to remain a little skeptical in these cases, but the numbers are interesting if they prove to be true.

The AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT was reportedly tested on Time Spy Extreme and Speed ​​Way, both 3DMark tests. In the first test, which does not use ray tracing, the card achieved 14,591 points, more than the RTX 4080 Super usually achieves. Meanwhile, the Speed ​​Way test uses ray tracing, and in this case the RX 9070 XT was slightly behind the RTX 4080 Super, achieving 6,345 points.

With these numbers, the RX 9070 XT could prove to be a very competitive option in the intermediate segment depending on the price. One of the admins on the ChipHell forum, where the benchmark leaks come from, commented that the “world has completely changed”, and warned not to rush to pre-order the RTX 50.

Among the leaks we also had a GPU-Z screen, proving some technical data that AMD has not yet officially revealed about its Radeon 9000 series.

One of the pieces of information is the 16GB capacity, which had already been confirmed by ASUS when it announced its customized RX 9070 XT and non-XT models. In the image we can also see confirmation that it is GDDR6.

The card also appears with a clock speed between 2,520MHz and up to 3,060MHz, with a considerable TBP of 330W.

Finally, it’s worth remembering that, if the results are correct, we should see slightly better final numbers when the cards are tested with the correct drivers.
