Since the first leaks about the Snapdragon X2, the second generation of Qualcomm processors for Windows on ARM, there has been talk of the possibility of having desktop PCs with the components, not just notebooks. The latest teaser for the SoCs seems to indicate that this could be true, at least at first glance.
On the official Snapdragon processors channel on YouTube this week we had the publication of a video whose title can be translated as “Next generation desktops powered by the Snapdragon X series”. The most obvious understanding is that we will finally see Windows desktop PCs for ARM running on the Snapdragon X2.
The video itself, however, doesn’t show any traditional desktop. We can only see mini PCs and compact formats, which not everyone considers a desktop per se.
Now the question remains whether Qualcomm is calling the mini PCs desktops or whether we will eventually see the Snapdragon X2 in the more “classic” format too, but they just weren’t shown in the video.
Qualcomm talks about gaming again on Snapdragon X2
Unsurprisingly, much of the focus of the video is on the Snapdragon X2’s AI capabilities. Qualcomm highlights that “Copilot+ accelerates creative and productivity workflows”, and also talks about personal AI experiences for privacy, performance and responsiveness. It’s interesting to see AI mentioned as something to help with privacy.

What cannot be overlooked in the teaser description, however, is that once again Qualcomm mentions games. The company talked a lot about the Snapdragon X’s capabilities for games, but the products ended up being considered below expectations at launch.
Gaming on ARM remains a challenge, and the Snadpragon X2 is a new chance to change that. The manufacturer promises that “players will be able to do more” with the processors, so we will soon see how far this proves to be.
