Qualcomm has released a new Adreno GPU driver for devices equipped with Snapdragon X Series processors. The new version 31.0.121.1 brings several fixes for games and applications, system improvements and support for new OpenCL extensions on Windows.
The driver includes fixes for video output in High Bit Rate 2 (HBR2) mode and Digital Flat Panel (DFP) ports, plus a fallback mechanism for reading information from the monitor. It also adds support for the cl_khr_external_semaphore_dx_fence OpenCL extension.

Among the most important changes are improved stability and graphics quality in popular games like Red Dead Redemption 2, Horizon Zero Dawn and Final Fantasy XV, as well as best performance in Fortnite and Alien: Rogue Incursion Evolved Edition.
Professional users can also expect smoother performance in AutoCAD and Adobe Camera Raw (v16.5).

The installer package is 134 MB. And it’s important to note that the driver is “technically” for developers. Players can’t just download and use it; they need to register first.
Qualcomm relies on OEMs to provide the latest drivers, and it rarely works as expected.
The term OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer, and is a term used in the manufacturing industry to describe companies that produce components or products that are sold to other companies to be integrated into their own products.

This too favors the acquisition of AMD/Intel models with AMD/NVIDIA GPUs. After all, Qualcomm’s official driver updates are quite slow, with few updates and even blocked by login. On the other hand, Intel, AMD and NVIDIA make products for end use and achieve faster updates.
Below, the complete list of applications that received improvements:

Availability
It’s not difficult to find the Snapdragon platform with Adreno GPUs on the market. At Kabum, there are models for R$8,599.00 (Dell Inspiron Plus I14), R$8,999.00 (Galaxy Book4 Edge) and R$4,399.12 (Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3). The issue that must be highlighted is that none of them are sold as a gaming notebook.
And for the same price range, it is possible to purchase an Alienware 16 Aurora with an RTX 5050 (R$ 8,999.00) or an MSI Thin 15 Intel Core with an RTX 4050 (R$ 8,957.99).
