Qualcomm has officially confirmed a new version of its Snapdragon X Plus PC SoC. The model is the 8-core X1P-42-100 SKU, which has already appeared in previous leaks. Now, however, we have official information on the processor’s technical details.
As Qualcomm’s slide shows, the new 8-core Snapdragon X Plus is made on 4nm and clocks up to 3.2GHz. It has 30MB of LPDDR5X cache and promises up to 135GB/s of memory bandwidth. In addition, the integrated GPU appears with up to 1.7 TFLOPS of performance.
That’s less than half the performance offered by the 10-core Snapdragon X Plus graphics, so the new processor option probably won’t be a good choice for gaming, especially considering that game optimization for these ARM-based components hasn’t been the best.
However, while the Snapdragon X Elite was praised for gaming, the Plus models are more geared towards everyday use. Even more so this new option with fewer cores, which should only appear in notebooks and entry-level PCs.
Snapdragon X Plus in PCs under $700?
Earlier this month, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon himself promised that we’ll see Snapdragon X-powered devices arriving for under $700 as early as next year. We can speculate that most of these models will appear with this new 8-core SKU.

According to VideoCardz, stores have been listing notebooks with the X1-42-100 for a few weeks now, but we haven’t had any official statements from companies yet. Amon has said that we’ll see more PCs with Snapdragon X during IFA 2024, so it’s likely that we’ll have some official news with more models of the SoC in September.
In the meantime, check out the updated comparison with the different versions of Snapdragon X:
