Due to the longevity of AMD’s partnership with Sony and Microsoft on the consoles over the years, the PS6 and the next Xbox will be expected to use the new UDNA architecture in their processors. Now, however, we finally have rumors talking directly about it.

Kepler, a famous insider who has hit a lot about AMD hardware in video games, talked a little about what he knows and his expectations for the new generation. In the traditional Neogaf Forum, he confirmed that both the PS6 and the new Xbox will use the same architecture – in this case UDNA (or RDNA 5).

Responding to other users, Kepler predicts performance gains around 20% in ratering, with the real leap coming in Ray Tracing and IA, which can double their UDNA performance. For the disappointment of some, he categorically states that we will not see 3D V-Cache in the processors of the new consoles.

Rumors focus on the gains of the UDNA generation

Kepler makes an important consideration on his profile on other social networks, noting that the performance gain in Ray Tracing is not directly reflected in the final count of the frames per second of a game.

According to the “leak” explains, twice as much more performance of Ray Tracing does not double the SPF, but halve the frametime of the specific part of the lightning layout.

AI processing gains also draw attention, since we are talking about the GPU at the Soc. With the hype of technology it would not be surprised if an NPU appeared on PS6 and next Xbox, but leaks seem to indicate that the UDNA GPU will realize that part as well.

As mentioned, it will not be surprised if both the PS6 and the next Xbox use AMD for their processors. Xbox people have actually confirmed an extensive partnership with the company not only for the new generation of the console, but also several other devices not yet revealed.

Meanwhile, on the PlayStation side we are still in rumors. No official processor confirmation has been offered on the PS6 and currently rumors circulate that Sony will again risk a laptop, also with AMD hardware.

Anyway, whether or not confirming AMD processors, companies should not speak specifically of UDNA (or RDNA 5) architecture until we are much closer to the arrival of their new video games.
