Production of 1C DRAM from SK Hynix for HBM4 has a jump in the yield to 80% [RUMOR]

SK Hynix would have achieved enviable yield in its component production capacity 1C DRAM, according to information from the South Korean media. Hankooki reports that the memories giant can now produce technology with 80% to 90% yield, which can help the company to get ahead in the race for HBM4.

Besides being a very significant number for the yield in the manufacture of any chip, it is a considerable leap from what was reported about the company until last year – around 60%.

Components 1C DRAM can be used in different memory products, but currently the largest focus of the giants in the area is on HBM4. The new generation of broadband memory has been the industry’s big bet to enjoy AI hype, which benefits much more speed in the memory of its accelerators.

This way, SK Hynix should book its advances at 1C DRAM to first ensure the mass production of its first HBM4 chips, or perhaps still for the HBM4E. However, if the yield proves really so positive, it should not be so long to see the first DDR5 modules taking advantage of 1c DRAM as well.

Ensuring first the availability of a new technology is always advantageous for any company that works with the most current technologies possible. For the case of HBM4 this is especially important due to the demand of AI accelerator manufacturers, such as Nvidia.
