PowerColor may launch new Reaper series in the Radeon RX 8000 generation

PowerColor is preparing a new series of products for the launch of the new Radeon RX 8000 GPUs, rumors say. AMD’s well-known graphics card partner will introduce the new Reaper variants with the launch of RDNA 4-based cards at CES 2025.

The information comes from VideoCardz, who claims to have spoken to a direct source at PowerColor. The company already works with several series names on different lines of Radeon cards, and Reaper should make its debut with the RX 8000.

If the information is confirmed, we will have a total of seven product lines by PowerColor:

• Liquid Devil
• Red Devil
• Hellhound
• Helhound Spectral
• Red Dragon
• Fighter
• Reaper

The folks at VideoCardz speculate that the Reaper line could appear in the form of the Radeon RX 8800 and RX 8600. This would include both standard products and their XT variants. Thus, we would have a total of four RX 8000 Reaper.

The site also states that a return of Red Dragon models is expected in the next generation of AMD GPUs. We didn’t have this variant with the RX 7000 cards, but rumors indicate that PowerColor will launch RDNA 4 cards in the Red Dragon and Hellhound series. That’s in addition to the newly discovered Reaper.

AMD will reveal Radeon RX 8000 in January

As with practically all new hardware, we already have numerous leaks and rumors indicating the arrival of the Radeon RX 8000 at CES 2025. We even have official confirmation from Lisa Su herself that the cards will be introduced in January. The executive just didn’t mention the event.

What draws attention is that we have now had the official debut of Intel’s Battlemage generation of dedicated graphics cards. Arc B580 models are available and Arc B570 boards arrive in January as well.

It will be interesting to see how the new cards based on RDNA 4 will compete with the new Battlemage, as neither AMD nor Intel intend to compete with NVIDIA in the high-end segment for this generation.
