New information about Nintendo Switch 2 specifications were released through datamines and specialized forums, suggesting details about the console’s CPU and GPU performance, including graphics chip and processor clocks and TFLOPS.

The findings, shared on Famiboards by user Zachy, indicate significant differences between portable and docked modes, as well as comparisons with current and previous generation hardware.

Clocks da GPU no Nintendo Switch 2

According to the leaks, the GPU clock no laptop mode will be 561 MHzwhich results in a performance of approximately 1,71 TFLOPS. In dock mode, the frequency of the The GPU room clocks in at 1,007 MHzincreasing capacity to around 3,1 TFLOPS.

By comparison, the original Nintendo Switch featured GPU clocks of 307 MHz in handheld mode and 768 MHz in docked mode, showing a significant jump in graphics capability.

These values position the Switch 2 below the performance of the Xbox Series S, which operates at 4 TFLOPSbut considerably higher than the current model. This improvement suggests that the console will be able to support games with higher graphical fidelity, although still far from dedicated GPUs such as the RTX 3060, which offers 12 TFLOPS.

Switch 2 CPU Specs

Concerning CPUthe leaks indicate that the clock will be inferior a 1,8 GHz. The original Nintendo Switch operated at a clock speed of 1.02 GHz, which is an upgrade but still maintains a focus on energy efficiency for portable use.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will be equipped with NVIDIA’s Tegra 239 SoC, consisting of an eight-core CPU and a GPU based on the Ampere architecture, with 1536 CUDA cores.

Additionally, the console will have native support for NVIDIA DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling), technology that will improve graphic quality without requiring additional processing, and ray tracing reconstruction, although this last feature may be limited due to GPU performance.

Be careful when comparing TFLOPS

Despite often being the only information we have, comparing TFLOPS numbers makes less and less sense with the advancement of graphics technologies. For concrete comparisons, we need concrete, controlled side-by-side tests.

With this information in mind, the market is increasingly paying attention to the possibilities that the Nintendo Switch 2 will bring, especially in relation to the balance between performance and accessibility.
