Pornography is okay as long as it is consensual

Content containing pornography ends up appearing in practically any type of place on the internet, and that is why it is up to programs and especially social networks to create rules and policies that prevent this type of posting. Or simply release it officially, as X is doing.

X revises its rules and allows pornography

Recently, X revised its policies, formalizing permission for the posting of adult and graphic content on its platform. Users now have the ability to share consensually produced NSFW content as long as it is properly labeled. Furthermore, the new guidelines even cover videos and images generated by artificial intelligence.

This policy change is not random, considering that, under the leadership of Elon Musk, X had already explored the possibility of hosting adult content in its NSFW communities.

In accordance with X’s new “adult content” policies, the platform defends freedom of expression, recognizing sexuality as a legitimate form of artistic expression. However, there is a clear effort to balance this freedom with restrictive measures to protect younger users or those who choose not to be exposed to this type of content.

The policy states: “We believe in the autonomy of adults to engage and create content that reflects their own beliefs, desires and experiences, including those related to sexuality. We balance this freedom by restricting exposure to Adult Content to children or adult users who choose not to view it.”

In addition to pornography content, the guidelines were also changed for posting violent content. Following a similar approach, they allow the posting of this type of content, but try to limit exposure to those that are excessively disturbing and prohibit content that is “excessively bloody or depicts sexual violence.”
