A PlayStation has just announced a new software update for the PS5which brings new features that promise to improve the players’ experience. Highlights include:
Welcome Hub:
New personalized space on the PS5 Home screen, replacing the Explore tab. The Welcome Hub allows customization with widgets and backgrounds, providing quick access to important information such as console storage, accessory battery levels, online friends, trophies, and more. This feature will be rolled out gradually in different regions, starting in the US and expanding to Japan, Europe, and eventually globally.
Sharing with Party:
A new Party Share feature will allow users to share party voice chat links across messaging and social media apps, making it easier to invite friends to join the conversation, even if they’re not on the PlayStation Network friends list. This feature will also be rolled out gradually over the coming weeks.
Custom 3D Audio Profiles:
Players will be able to create custom 3D audio profiles for their headphones, optimizing the audio experience based on their individual hearing characteristics. This update aims to further enhance immersion in games by enabling improved perception of the positions of characters and objects in the game environment.
Adaptive charging for controllers:
Available for the PS5 Slim and PS5 Pro models, this feature adjusts the charging time of DualSense controllers based on battery level, helping to save power.
Non-Remote Play Settings:
The update will allow users to adjust Remote Play settings, choosing who can connect to the console using this feature.
The software update is now rolling out globally and all new features, except adaptive controller charging, are supported on all PS5 models. Sony will continue to listen to community feedback to further improve the gameplay and interaction experiences on PS5.
