A player reported a loss of more than R$2,500 after purchasing a processor on Amazon. User Nico1300 shared the case on Reddit and told the story of a friend injured by fraud. This occurs when counterfeit products are sent as returns on the marketplace, generating a wrong order.
The website Adrenaline published a famous case in 2022, which gained repercussion after being posted on the website. On the occasion, the son of Mauricio de Sousa, creator of Turma da Mônica, purchased a GeForce RTX 3090 TI GameRock video card and received pots full of sand. He had purchased the product on Amazon for R$14,500.
In the most recent case, the buyer purchased an Intel i7-14700K, a model valued at around R$3,000. However, upon opening the packaging, he realized that he had received an Intel i5-760, a processor launched in 2011 and currently found for prices starting at R$60 on Mercado Livre.

The buyer detailed in a post on Reddit that he noticed something strange when checking the texture of the sticker on the packaging. By removing the sticker, it was possible to identify the true specifications of the item received.

According to reports, this type of fraud occurs when returns made to Amazon do not undergo careful analysis. This allows counterfeit items to be redistributed to other consumers.
Other users commented that similar situations are becoming more and more frequent. According to them, failures in the quality control of returned items are one of the main causes of the problem. The case raised debates about the security of online purchases, especially on platforms that allow third-party resellers.
The Intel i7-14700K processor is one of the most sought after models today, due to its advanced performance. Specialized stores, such as KaBuM, sell the processor for prices starting at R$2,900.
The Intel i5-760, received by the player, was competitive in 2011, but currently has a much lower market value and does not meet the performance requirements required for modern tasks, such as games and video editing.
