PC shipments increased by 6.7% in the first quarter of 2025

A report released this week by Counterpoint Research shows that the first quarter of 2025 was marked by an increase of 6.7% in sending PCs to the global market. According to the company, this means that 4 million more machines in the category were sent to stores compared to the same period last year.

The company states that the increase is a direct consequence of the various rates that the United States are preparing for the foreign market. Many companies have decided to increase the amounts of devices sent as a way to create stocks before the inevitable price increases this will bring.

Among the companies that increased PC shipments the most Apple, which increased by 17% in its deliveries. In second place was Lenovo, with 11%, followed by ASUS (9%), HP (6%) and Dell (4%). Even smaller manufacturers, such as Vaio, registered increases, though more discreetly – the company had an increase of 1% in its units sent.

PC market is encouraged by the end of Windows 10 support

Counterpoint Research states that while tariffs were important, they were not the only factor responsible for stimulating new PCs. The company explains that the end of official support to Windows 10 – scheduled for October 14 this year – is also helping to increase demand for new machines.

The segment that is most benefiting from this is those of computers that promise artificial intelligence resources. However, the research company notes that It is not these solutions that are attracting consumers “But the most modern hardware that meet Windows 11 requirements.”

Despite the good performance of the PC market in the first quarter, the expectation is to challenge in the coming months. As US tariffs come into action, companies that manufacture their goods in China will be forced to raise prices, resulting in a drop in consumer interest.
