In recent weeks, the pace of leaks for Panther Lake processors has accelerated, revealing sometimes confusing information about Intel’s next mobile generation. Now, however, it looks like we finally have a better understanding of what to expect for the Core Ultra 5 338H.

The processor appeared in a Geekbench leak, revealing technical details and its score in the synthetic performance test. This component, in particular, has already appeared in leaks as the Core Ultra X5 338H and also without the “X”, as it was listed in the test.

What happens is that the 338H is precisely in the transition between the new premium series of Panther Lake processors and the intermediate models. The confusion comes from the fact that the Core Ultra X9 and X7 models have 12 Xe3 cores, while the Core Ultra 5 338H uses 10 graphics cores, but is still part of Intel’s premium segment.

The current leak indicates that the Core Ultra 5 338H will not actually have X in its name, ensuring that Panther Lake components with X use 12 Xe3 cores.

The current leak also indicates that Panther Lake processors will adopt a nomenclature more in line with dedicated Intel Battlemage graphics cards. According to the Core Ultra 5 338H listing on Geekbench, it comes equipped with an Arc B370.

This draws attention because Battlemage GPUs are based on Xe2, while Intel’s upcoming processors mark the debut of the Xe3 architecture. Tom’s Hardware’s understanding is that Intel will reserve the Arc C name for Xe3P, which will be used in Celestial GPUs.

Core Ultra 5 338H result comes close to Strix Point rivals

Speaking specifically about the score that appears in the leak, we see that the Core Ultra 5 338H scores 39,406 on Geekbench. It’s not a big gain compared to the similar model from the previous generation, Lunar Lake, which already scored 37,953 points.

The number is close to what the Radeon 880M achieves in the same test, the integrated GPU of Strix Point processors, which scores more or less 39,917, depending on the listing.

In any case, this type of leak does not offer ideal conditions for comparisons, since we do not have complete information on the conditions under which the processor was tested, nor the driver used.
