The sky (and low temperatures) is the limit for enthusiasts: overclocker uses portable freezer to push RTX 5050 to 3.5 GHz and break world records!
One overclockers known as Trashbench accomplished a remarkable feat. The talented individual managed to take a GeForce RTX 5050 graphics card at a frequency of almost 3.5 GHza feat achieved with the use of the aforementioned portable freezer for camping.
The experiment was part of a informal competition that Trashbench itself describes as the most senseless of YouTube. Watch:
However, before let’s start further explanationscheck the technical specifications obtained with the overclock na GeForce RTX 5050:
| Component/Parameter | Original specification | Overclocked specification |

How to achieve extreme overclocks on the RTX 5050
O overclockers used a technique known as shunt mod on a board Gigabyte RTX 5050. This procedure consists of changing the resistors that monitor the power on the board, allowing it to operate beyond their original power limits.
With this modification, the board no longer accurately reports its consumption, which was incorrectly recorded as 78W. O true limit it became just the maximum voltage and cooling capacity.
Cooling was the key element to success. The enthusiast employed a freezer Techni-Ice with a 60/40 glycol mix to keep GPU temperatures in an impressive range, ranging from -12°C to 15°C during testing. This rigorous thermal control was essential to sustain the high frequency.

Overclocking results and world records
The modified card achieved a sustained clock rate of 3.468 MHzrepresenting a 23% increase in relation to the original frequency of 2.820 MHz.
To be performance elevated GB207 GPUthe central chip of RTX 5050topping some 3DMark benchmark rankings, achieving several world records. This result consolidates it as one of the GPUs GB207 faster in activity.
O overclockers already has a history of similar achievements. Approximately two weeks before this feat with the RTX 5050he had already set a world record with a plate Intel Arc B580.
On that occasion, however, the modification was restricted to replacing the cooling systemwithout electrical changes on the board.

O 23% increase achieved by Trashbench illustrates the state of overclocking these days. Although this appears to be a moderate value by historical standards, where 100% gains were already possiblethe current reality is different.
The achievement is an example of how creative solutions continue to push the limits of hardware.
Most modern GPUs have difficulty achieving 10% improvements even with advanced modifications like the shunt moddue to increasingly efficient designs from manufacturers.
The competition that motivated the test was a challenge against another channel on the YouTube, Clock Benchwith the aim of seeing who could extract more performance from the same video card.
