The Ryzen 9 9950X has yet to make its official debut, but it has already set a world record. A well-known Chinese digital influencer went to the ChinaJoy 2024 event to show off the processor’s overclocking potential and took the opportunity to achieve the highest score ever obtained in Cinebench R23.

The author of the feat is known as Ordinary Uncle Tony. He posted a video of the presentation on the Chinese platform Bilibili, where the process is shown in detail. Using liquid nitrogen (LN2) for cooling, the processor is driven to the impressive clock of 6.5GHz. In this configuration, the Ryzen 9 9950X manages to score 55,327 points in Cinebench R23.

This is a clear improvement over the previous record of 50,843 points for the Ryzen 9 7950X. Furthermore, even higher numbers are expected to be achieved as more overclocking experts get their hands on the new Zen 5-based flagship.

It’s interesting to note that the standard clocks for the Ryzen 9 9950X are 4.3GHz base and up to 5.7GHz boost. The processor had already leaked reaching 6GHz previously, in a configuration that appeared to not use LN2. At Uncle Tony’s presentation, even with this advanced cooling solution, the component was already hitting 165°C when it reached its record.

Ryzen 9 9950X only in mid-August

AMD’s new Ryzen 9000 generation of Zen 5 processors was supposed to make its debut this week, but it’s been delayed. As expected, we already have rumors about what could be the real reason for this unforeseen delay, but it doesn’t change the fact that we have to wait until August for the new products.

The Ryzen 9 9950X, specifically, has had its launch delayed until after the 15th. So we’ll have to wait a little longer to see more enthusiasts pushing the new processor to its limits.

Meanwhile, it’s worth remembering that we had a price leak for the entire Ryzen 9000 line. In a rumor with little credibility, the Ryzen 9 9950X appears to cost US$499, the equivalent of R$2,810.
