FSR Redstone’s AI-assisted frame generation technology isn’t available in all games, but an unofficial third-party app can help change that. A Reddit user showed a pre-alpha build of OptiScaler being used to force ML Frame Generation in Monster Hunter Wilds, which does not have the feature.
AMD officially released FSR Redstone on December 10th, through a driver update. The new version of FSR is made up of four features that use AI to improve performance: Neural Radiance Caching, ML Ray Regeneration, ML Super Resolution and ML Frame Generation.
Monster Hunter Wilds features the super resolution of FSR Redstone, but frame generation still uses the FSR 3.1.6 version of AMD technology. Using the experimental build of OptiScaler, however, user eduhfx, on Reddit, showed very visible differences between the normal version of the tool and the new Redstone generation.
The user explains that he chose Monster Hunter Wilds because this is a game that relies heavily on frame generation and he has more than 700 hours of gameplay in the title, so he was very familiar with the artifacts of traditional Frame Generation.
FSR Redstone Implementation May Cause Confusion
Not every game that declares itself compatible with FSR Redstone supports all of the technology’s features, and this has already caused some confusion. In the Reddit thread about using OptiScaler, we see many users finding it strange because they think Monster Hunter Wilds would already have the feature set. The game is only compatible with Redstone super resolution, however.
Since the title already has one tool, many players hope that the others will arrive soon through updates, making OptiScaler unnecessary for this game.

It is important to note that using OptiScaler can be dangerous in online and multiplayer games. As it is unofficial third-party software that tampers with game files, anti-cheat tools can accuse the app and ban the player.
