After models with a 10.95-inch screen, now the OneXPlayer launches the X1 Mini with 8.8-inch display. Both different sizes feature the same hardware: AMD Ryzen 7 8840U, SKU of the latest generation of mobile APUs with Zen 4 and RDNA 3.
One of the biggest complaints with the OneXPlayer X1 was the large screen for a laptop. Therefore, the X1 Mini arrives to alleviate this problem, although the screen is still a slightly larger size compared to what rivals have. Among the countless options in this market, the Lenovo Legion Go is one of the few that has an 8.8-inch display.
This OneXPlayer X1 Mini screen has an image refresh rate of 144 Hz, different from the 120 Hz of the larger version. The 10.95-inch device’s display has a resolution of 2560×1600, but the manufacturer did not reveal the resolution of the Mini version.
Specifications of the X1 and X1 Mini are similar
Otherwise, both models have the same specifications. The highlight is the Ryzen 7 8840U, which is the evolution of the Ryzen Z1 Extreme, the most popular mobile APU among handhelds. It offers 8 cores and 16 threads based on Zen 4, in addition to the iGPU with 12 RDNA 3 computing units operating at 2.7 GHz, the Radeon 780M.
The OneXPlayer X1 Mini also supports M.2 NVMe SSD, but of size 2230 as it is a smaller device. It also has USB 4 and the Oculink connection, which allows the use of an external video card, just like notebooks.
The new model is also 3 in 1, as it can be used as a portable console with controls attached to the screen; tablet, since it is possible to remove the controls; and PC with keyboard and mouse.
In addition to these models with the Ryzen 7 8840U, the OneXPlayer X1 also has a version with the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H and Ultra 5 135H, which offer more cores and threads, are equipped with up to 8 Xe Alchemist cores, but have difficulty delivering the same performance as its AMD rivals.
OneXPlayer also stated that it will update the larger versions of the X1 with AMD Ryzen 8040 mobile APUs. For now, prices and availability of the X1 Mini have not been revealed.
