After some hints of processor prices Ryzen 9000 in stores, AMD is now making the initial lineup prices official. The official prices are a bit different from what we’ve seen unofficially recently and they will de US$ 279 a US$ 649.
The first processors to arrive are the Ryzen 5 9600X and Ryzen 7 9700X on August 8, priced at $279 and $359respectively. Now the Ryzen 9 9900X and 9950X arrive on the 15th costing US$ 499 and US$ 649. Compared to the leaked prices we showed here, the Ryzen 9 costs $50 more.
Regarding the “Raphael” generation (Ryzen 7000), there was an interesting decrease in the prices of Ryzen 9000. Comparing the four equivalent SKUs between the two generations, Zen 5 CPUs are between US$ 20 and US$ 50 cheaper.

Ryzen 9000 are cheaper and consume less
Another notable change between AMD Zen 4 and Zen 5 processors is the TDP of the two series. While almost all Ryzen 7000 equivalents to Ryzen 9000 have a consumption of 170W, only Ryzen 9 9950X has this level of TDP. In other words, the “Granite Ridge” SKUs arrive costing less and consuming less.
AMD has made the load distribution across the chip more efficient, in order to mitigate temperature spikes at specific points on the die, the hotspots. This results in a 7°C reduction in temperature, operating at the same TDP as a Ryzen 7000 model.
With a new design that provides better heat conductivity, Ryzen 9000 chips now dissipate heat 15% more efficiently.
The new generation of processors is based on the Zen 5 microarchitecture. AMD has sought new double-digit percentage gains compared to what is offered in Zen 4 processors (Ryzen 7000 and 8000G). According to AMD, the average performance gain compared to its predecessors is 16%.
Remember: the first AMD Ryzen 9000s will arrive next week (8), with the rest scheduled for a week later (15).
