After several rumors indicating that NVIDIA would continue manufacturing the GeForce RTX 4070 GPU with GDDR6 memory – due to recent problems with Micron’s GDDR6X version – new information has emerged to complement the company’s plan.
Leaker “MEGAsizeGPU” has revealed that the variant is cataloged as PG141 SKU347 and will indeed be shipped with GDDR6 memory. According to the leaked material, all other specifications will be maintained.
While NVIDIA has remained mum on the matter, the GeForce RTX 4070 GPU with GDDR6 “should deliver 20 Gbps” – which isn’t too far off from what GDDR6X offers. In fact, 12GB of GDDR6X with 21 Gbps and 12GB of GDDR6 with 20 Gbps would theoretically deliver a bandwidth reduction of under 5% with a 192-bit bus.
In simpler terms, the bandwidth – theoretically – would be reduced from the 504 GBps seen in the original GDDR6X version to a new 480 GBps – if the leaked GDDR6 memory speed is correct.
With less than a 5% reduction in bandwidth, NVIDIA will try not to scare away new buyers of the Geforce RTX 4070 GPU with the GDDR6 memory version. If they keep the other specifications intact, potential customers would not have problems with games that consume a lot of memory or that value high resolutions.

The big problem arose from rumors that GDDR6X memories, used by NVIDIA for part of its GeForce RTX 40 GPUs, would have a reduction in stock due to an alleged problem in the quality certification of the modules produced by Micron.
This would be seen in the month of August and could also include September shipments, leading to an absence not only of the GeForce RTX 4070 GPU from the market, but also impacting sales of the RTX 4060.
Since NVIDIA has not officially revealed the information, there is still a lot to be confirmed within this information. However, even if a GeForce RTX 4070 is sold with GDDR6 memory – at a reduced price and in line with the proposal – there should be no problems between the manufacturer and consumers who opt for the version.
