NVIDIA has officially announced that the famous Sphere in Las Vegas, known for bringing several curious images and promoting content and products, uses 150 RTX A6000 GPUs to function properly.
If we do a basic calculation, considering that each of these GPUs has a little over 10 thousand cores, 48GB of memory and consumes 450W, we come to the conclusion that this yields a total of 1,612,800 cores, 7200GB of GDDR6 memory and a consumption of 45 thousand watts just to make the video hardware operate.

According to NVIDIA, the 150 RTX A6000 GPUs used in the Sphere are connected via BlueField DPUs and ConnectX-6 Dx NICs. In addition, they use software technology such as DOCA Firefly Service and Rivermax – from the manufacturer itself. All this to run 16 16K monitors inside and 1.2 million custom LEDs on the outside.
Sphere Entertainment’s senior vice president of system technology, Alex Luthwaite, says the light show’s popularity has only been made possible by NVIDIA’s support and hardware.
Sphere is captivating audiences not only in Las Vegas, but across the globe on social media with immersive LED content delivered at a scale and clarity never before seen. This would not be possible without the expertise and innovation of companies like NVIDIA, who have been instrumental in helping us realize our vision, working closely with our team to redefine what is possible with cutting-edge display technology.

A Sphere in Las Vegas
The Sphere has become one of the biggest attractions in Las Vegas, occupying a space of 69,677 m² with an absurd amount of LEDs to bring various effects and images to those passing by on the streets and even in its airspace. It became popular for using the classic “smiley” emoji to observe traffic and planes in the sky.
Below are some examples of its use in advertising:
It’s interesting to see NVIDIA GPUs being used for non-conventional applications – not focused on servers, artificial intelligence or gaming. This even opens the door for the manufacturer to take them to other structures – bringing even more innovations that could become popular in the future.
