The presentation of the NVIDIA already CES 2025. At this event, the company should make official its next generation of video cards for the gaming public: the generation RTX 50based on the blackwell architecture, the same one used by the company in its most current line of chips for AI accelerators.
Moves towards the new generation of GPUs
With the announcement approaching, NVIDIA has already started making some moves to make room for its new video cards. A trend that has been observed in different parts of the world is the progressive decrease in the availability of the RTX 4090 for purchase, with options in stock even being sold at higher prices. Other models, such as the RTX 4070 Ti, also face the same scenario.
This is related to a gradual decrease in the production of GPUs that equip the RTX 40 line cards. At the moment, the production of some chips, such as the AD103, AD104 and AD106, has been completely stopped. According to information published on BoardChannelonly the smallest GPU in the RTX 40 family, the AD107, will continue to be manufactured.
Continued production of the AD107
This GPU is used in the RTX 4060, as well as in cards from the RTX Ada line and in versions for notebooks, such as the RTX 4060 and RTX 4050.
Expectations for the RTX 50 Generation
NVIDIA is expected to present the first three models of the RTX 50 generation in January 2025. The expectation is that the company will confirm the RTX 5090, RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 versions. The possible specifications of these models would be as follows:
