NVIDIA H20 is selling “incredibly well”, reveals analyst

The NVIDIA H20 appears to have proven to be yet another example of the importance of the Chinese market for hardware manufacturers. The GPU for professional use with reduced performance to be sold in China has performed “incredibly well”, according to market analyst Claus Aasholm.

The post below cites one of Aasholm’s most recent reports, featuring sales charts for different NVIDIA products. We can see that the largest bars belong to the H100 cards, which have also seen growth over the last few quarters. The H20 models, however, show a much more significant proportional growth.

“The worsened H20 passing through embargo rules for China is doing incredibly well,” declares Aasholm. “With 50% growth, quarter over quarter, this is NVIDIA’s most successful product. H100 sales grew ‘only’ 25% every quarter.”

Evidently, growth of 25% every quarter is already quite significant, which is why “only” appears in quotation marks. But the 50% increase per period is really impressive, especially considering that it is a low-performance product.

Not only the importance of the Chinese market, the popularity of the H20 also highlights, once again, the hype of companies with AI. While the United States imposes increasingly restrictive sanctions on its Asian rival, businesspeople and industries in China are looking for solutions to avoid being left behind in the race for artificial intelligence.

In addition to legally purchasing H20 models – while these cards are not subject to embargo either – the Chinese have also opted for the RTX 4090D as an alternative solution, customizing the card with more memory.
