The closer to the end of the year, the more information about the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 GPUs appears. Kopite7kimi now reveals the specifications of the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080. The high-end NVIDIA Blackwell GPU is expected to be equipped with 32 GB GDDR7 on a 512-bit interface. The second strongest should have its specifications cut in half.
According to the leaker, the strongest next generation graphics card may have 21,760 CUDA cores and 600W consumption. Regarding memories, they can reach 1,5 TB/s of bandwidth, 500 MB more than the RTX 4090. The reference model is expected to have two slots, probably with some different cooling system.
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 can be equipped with 16 GB of GDDR7 memory delivering 784 GB/s, 10,752 CUDA cores and 400W consumption. What remains to be known, in terms of technical specifications, is the frequency speed of the two GPUs. The information leaked here matches previous rumors as well.
GeForce RTX 5090 can use two 12V-2×6 connectors
With such high consumption, it is expected that both video cards will make use of the 16-pin power connector, but in the case of the RTX 5090, it could be two (in fact the new 12V-2×6 generation), according to evidence coming from MSI with its new 1600W MEG power supply.
Sources from the Benchlife website revealed, at the beginning of the month, that NVIDIA intended to finalize the specifications of the GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 this September. Furthermore, it was said that they would also be producing “D” variants for both GPUs aimed at the Chinese market.
Despite the expected increase in consumption in these high-end GPUs from the Blackwell series, at the other end of the lineup (specifically for notebooks), the opposite is expected to happen. According to the presentation of a Chinese PC and notebook manufacturer, the RTX 5060 would have lower consumption than the RTX 4060 and would be equipped with GDDR7 memories.
The RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 arrived in October and November, respectively, 2022. We are getting close to this traditional launch period for new GPUS, but NVIDIA has not yet made anything official about the GeForce RTX 50 so far.
