NVIDIA officially announced the GeForce RTX 5080its new high-performance mid-range graphics card, which hits the market with a suggested price of US$ 999.
The model is based on the Blackwell architecture and promises significant advances in graphics performance, especially in games and applications that use ray tracing and artificial intelligence technologies.
Technical specifications of the RTX 5080
The RTX 5080 has 10,752 CUDA cores and has a base clock of 2.30 GHz, which can reach 2.62 GHz in boost mode. The 16 GB GDDR7 memory operates on a 256-bit interface, offering a bandwidth of up to 1 TB/s.
The graphics card is equipped with dedicated 4th generation ray tracing cores and 5th generation Tensor cores, which enables support for the new DLSS 4including features like ray tracing reconstruction and frame generation.
In terms of power consumption, the RTX 5080 has a TGP (Total Graphics Power) of 360 W, and the recommended system must include a source of at least 850 W. Power connection can be made via three 8-pin PCIe connectors or via a 450W PCIe Gen 5 cable.
Advances in performance and technologies
The Blackwell architecture brings significant improvements over the previous generation. NVIDIA claims the RTX 5080 is twice as fast as the RTX 4080 in several modern applications and games. This efficiency is enhanced by DLSS 4, which combines AI-based upscaling, image reconstruction and new features like Multi Frame Generation.
The card also includes support for NVIDIA Reflex 2, NVIDIA Broadcast technologies and the new Frame Warp function, scheduled for release in future updates. Other features such as Ansel, ShadowPlay and Game Ready and Studio drivers are also present.
RTX 5080 availability and price
The GeForce RTX 5080 will be available from end of January 2025with Founders Edition models and customized versions by partner manufacturers.
