GPUS sales data from German retailer MindFactory.de, released by TechPowerup, shows that the RTX 5060 TI 16GB is surpassing the 8GB version in a ratio from 16 to 1. The irony of the numbers seems planned, but it was not.
MindFactory.de is one of Germany’s largest retailers with public sales data. And the data show that:
- 1,675 units of RTX 5060 TI 16GB were sold
- 105 units of the 8GB version were sold

This represents a difference of 1,600%, even with both versions available in stock. That is, the choice of consumers is not being influenced for lack of availability. Therefore, the information is more relevant than in the case of RTX 5080 and RTX 5090, which had a lack of stock.

Reasons for preference

Despite the highest price, the largest amount of Vram is the decisive factor. With increasingly demanding games and technologies like ray tracing Becoming standard, 16GB of video memory became almost essential for ideal performance and longevity of the plate. And this applies to the used market.
Plates with 8GB of Vram already face difficulties in modern games, and the tendency is to get worse with the advance of graphic realism. Although technologies like Neural Texture Compression Help reduce memory use, its effectiveness depends on the implementation by developers.
In practice, this is also a problem for signs such as the RTX 5050, which in addition to being available with 8 GB of memory, came with GDDR6 and Nvidia needed to be justified.
Competitors follow the same trend
According to TecHepiphany data, AMD leads sales with RX 9070 XT and RX 9060 XT plates, followed by RTX 5060 TI. However, AMD numbers also show that the RX 9060 XT 16GB sold more than 30 times than its 8GB version.
I.e, The preference for more vram is a clear trend among consumersregardless of the brand.
In the case of TecHepiphany data, they also show that Nvidia may be losing some market space to AMD. And the green team has a large portion of the market.
However, the research data showing Nvidia’s domain refer to the first half and the great demand for the 9000 series can show a AMD resumption in the GPUS segment.

With the RX 9060 XT 16GB only 5% slower than RTX 5060 TI 16GB, but 20% cheaper, there is also another opportunity for the red team.
And although the announcement of RTX 5050 allows NVIDIA to reach different consumers, it is unreasonable to say that the plate competes directly with the 9000 series of AMD. It competes in terms of price, but with a different audience.
In practice, with performance close to RTX 4060, the RTX 5050 is aimed at GTX series users 10 or 16 older series, or Basic -level 20 Series 20 Video Plates. That is, despite being acquired, it will be by users who already had NVIDIA signs.
In short, the RTX 5050 may prevent users from Migrem to AMD, but will not necessarily increase NVIDIA’s presence over AMD.
