An NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU with the AD103 equipped was seen on the GPU-Z platform, as well as other video cards containing different configurations – as is the case with the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti and the RTX 4060.
According to the TechPowerUp website, these video cards are already officially on the market and can be found in models such as the RTX 4070 Ventus 3X E from MSI. In the case of this version, the original hardware used the AD104 GPU and not the AD103 – which has 80 Stream Multiprocessors, but only 46 are being used in this variant.
In comparative terms, NVIDIA took the AD103 to other of its cards such as the original GeForce RTX 4080 (which used 76 Stream Multiprocessors) and the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti (which used 66 Stream Multiprocessors). Only the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER uses the 80 SMs that the chip has capacity.

- GeForce RTX 4070: AD104-251 (original) / AD103-175-KX (nova variante);
- GeForce RTX 4060Ti: AD106-351 (original) / AD104-150-KX (new variant);
- GeForce RTX 4060: AD107-400 (original) / AD106-255 (new variant)
It is worth noting that the original NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 did not go out of circulation with the arrival of the “SUPER” versions, this only happened with two GPUs – the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti and the GeForce RTX 4080. It is still possible to find them for sale, but will become increasingly scarce as units run out.
NVIDIA common practice
It is not strange to see larger GPUs being equipped in “mid-range” segment video cards, with NVIDIA maintaining the tradition of taking advantage of a quantity that it must have in its stocks to be used – instead of producing new ones and incurring more expenses.
The practice involves using larger dies and reducing their core count – ensuring that they do not perform outside the standards of their common models. Even though the registration has appeared and GPUs of these variants are already on sale, this type of action is generally aimed at specific markets – in this case, Asia.
