At a time when hardware prices are exploding thanks to the great demand from data centers focused on artificial intelligence (AI), NVIDIA is likely to make the situation even worse for consumers. According to popular leaker MEGAsizeGPU, the company decided to cut the number of GPUs it supplies to its partners by up to 20%.
At X, he stated that the cuts vary between 15% and 20%, which should substantially reduce the number of plates available to the corporation’s partners. The leaker also stated that the company will not renew its RTX line throughout 2026.
Thus, NVIDIA leaves a clear message: its main consumers are no longer gamers, but companies operating in the AI sector. The “compensation” for all this will be the fact that the company must continue offering memory sets alongside the GPUs it supplies to its partners.
NVIDIA will not help stabilize the market
The revelation about NVIDIA isn’t exactly surprising, given the corporation’s interests in the generative AI market. As the leading hardware supplier for companies like OpenIA and Microsoft (among many others), it has no intention of the demand for new data centers and specialized GPUs decreasing.
For consumers, the reality remains that the few components that continue to arrive in stores will increase in price. According to Tom’s Hardware, the RTX 50 line is one of the most affected by the situation and it is becoming increasingly rare to find models at suggested prices.

The GeForce RTX 5080, for example, increased its average price by 35% in the United States in the last quarter. The RTX 5090 model, considered one of the most powerful ever produced by NVIDIA, has registered readjustments reaching almost 80% in recent months — and restrictions on production lines should only make the situation worse.
In compensation, AMD GPUs have seen more modest increases, while some Intel-supplied options have dropped in price. Even so, the scenario looks bleak for game fans, especially those who need to upgrade their hardware to be able to handle newer titles.
