Jensen Huang, CEO NVIDIAdirectly addressed the speculation surrounding the project “Blackwell”confirmed design flaws that affected the development of these chips. Clearly, Huang also clarified that the TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company), NVIDIA’s long-time chip manufacturing partner, had no responsibility for the problems faced.
In addition to chips for the corporate sector, equipping accelerators that can be used in AI inference, for example, chips based on the Blackwell architecture will also equip RTX 50 series cards, such as the long-awaited RTX 5090, which should be presented in January.
According to the executive, the Blackwell chips had a design flaw that led to a lower percentage of usable chip yield. Huang also assured that the identified problems have already been resolved, indicating that the project is back on track.
With this public positioning, NVIDIA hopes to reassure its partners and also ensure that the agreements will be met with the new deadline, set for the end of 2024. Initially the idea was that the chips would be delivered from the second quarter, but, due to due to design problems, it was not possible to achieve this.
