Nvidia admits that some RTX 5080 also left with rops missing

The manufacturing problem in the Nvidia GPUs that resulted in video cards with fewer rops than the officially promised “boast” all RTX 50 currently available. Initially speaking only of RTX 5090 and 5090D and RTX 5070 IT, NVIDIA has now assumed that some units of the RTX 5080 have also been affected.

“After further investigations, we identified that a build from the beginning of the production of the RTX 5080 GPUs have also been affected by the same problem,” Nvidia told TechPowerup. “Affected consumers can contact the manufacturer of their plates for a replacement.”

Despite stressing that he did “more investigations”, Nvidia’s speech appears only after reports of RTX 5080 with less rops start appearing on the internet, in forums like Reddit.

Anyway, with the confirmation of the company itself that we have units of the RTX 5080 with less rops than promised, the entire RTX 50 line currently available was affected by the problem. The company did not offer an updated percentage after it includes 5080, so it is possible to remain in only 0.5%.

RTX 5080 has the same amount of rops less

It is important to make a disagreement after all this situation with the RTX 50. When it comes to promoting your video cards, Nvidia likes to talk about the total of rops that the plate is able to render, because the number gets larger. Thus, the standard setting of RTX 5080, for example, should deliver 112 ROPs.

However, when it is to say that the signs came out with a problem, Nvidia prefers to refer to the effective number of units responsible for ROPs in the GPU. Thus, the company can say that the plate came with only one unit of ROPs missing.
