Intel’s promised microcode fix patch has already started rolling out to ASUS and MSI initially. All this trouble with Raptor Lake CPUs also affects PCs built by partners. The Verge contacted several of them and Not all of them will provide 100% support on this issue.

There are two different groups that are valid for the customer to trigger the RMA. The first one is valid for processors purchased by the user in a store. In this case, it is necessary to contact Intel’s own customer support.

The second group refers to customers who purchased systems assembled by third parties, such as a PC assembled by a store or by partner manufacturers. In this case, it is necessary to contact the store or manufacturer directly and this is what we will talk about here.

Positioning of Intel’s partners in extended warranty

The Verge contacted 14 companies, including stores and manufacturers that partner with Intel, to find out their position regarding customer support for damaged Raptor Lake CPUs.

Major manufacturers such as Lenovo and MSI and the CyberPowerPC store did not respond to the site’s questions. Acer said it is investigating which models of its desktop PCs are experiencing the instability and claims to have had no complaints from its customers so far. Despite this, it does not offer an extended warranty.

ASUS and HP guarantee the two-year extended warranty announced by Intel. Dell and Alienware do not guarantee this longer warranty, but promise to cover the costs of their users. NZXT is another manufacturer that does not promise an extended warranty, but guarantees its support.

Intel also said it would extend its warranty on affected Raptor Lake CPUs by up to 5 years. Some of the manufacturers and stores contacted by The Verge guaranteed this longer period, they are: Corsair and Origin PC with 4 years, Puget Systems with 3 years, and Digital Storm, Falcom Northwest, Maingear and iByupower all with 5 years.

Most manufacturers and retailers say they are still investigating which exact products are experiencing the known instabilities, and they are working closely with Intel to provide adequate support for the faulty Raptor Lake CPUs. Note that the patch prevents the issues, but does not provide a fix for those affected.
