Noctua officially launched this week the NH-D15 G2 chroma.black, an all-black version of its most powerful cooler for CPUs. Along with the debut, the company revealed in the product specifications that it will be compatible with the LGA-1954 socket, intended for Intel Nova Lake-S processors, not yet available.
The update was also made on the original NH-D15 G2 page, which is to be expected – since the only difference between the two cooler variants is the color itself. Noctua is known for its beige and brown components, but chroma.black goes all-in on black.

This means that the new cooler not only has the fans painted, but also the heatsinks, heatsink, heat pipes, all parts of the NH-D15 G2.
Guaranteed compatibility with LGA-1954 means potential buyers of Noctua’s new cooler won’t need to worry about extra accessories or a new mounting kit to use the NH-D15 G2 with Nova Lake CPUs. The product is ready for another generation of Intel processors – in addition to being compatible with the current one and some previous ones. The cooler also supports AM4 and AM5 on the AMD side.

Noctua charges more for the chroma.black version of the NH-D15 G2
As mentioned, the new cooler variant is identical to the original NH-D15 G2 in specs. The component has 140mm fans and is 168mm tall. The fans spin up to 1,500RPM with an airflow of 91.58CFM, and the noise level can reach 24.8dBA.
Noctua uses its own standardized performance estimation system called NSPR, and the NH-D15 G2 comes in at 228. For comparison, the previous version of this same cooler was at 183.

The company, however, charges more for the black variant of the product. The standard NH-D15 G2 costs US$180, while the cooler with the chroma.black look takes the price to US$190.
Fans for the new cooler are also sold separately
It is worth mentioning that the NF-A14x25 G2 fans used in the NH-D15 G2 are also sold separately. Since the cooler now has a chroma.black version, the same goes for the fans.

The cooler specifically uses the NF-A14x25r G2, which are the variants with round fan frames. But the fans are also available with the traditional square frame, for the same prices.
A separate fan costs US$45 on Amazon, and the kit with two brings the price to US$85.
