If you’re already tired of reading rumors about the Nintendo Switch 2, the Japanese manufacturer may have good news to share this week. According to sources consulted by sites such as VGC, the company may be preparing to officially announce its new hardware now next Thursday, January 16th.
The information is based on allegations made by insider NateTheHate, who is known for making many accurate predictions. In the most recent edition of his podcast, he stated that the company is preparing the launch of a new trailer that will focus on the technical characteristics of the device.
It will only be at a later date, at the end of February or beginning of Marchthat Nintendo will share more details about the Switch 2’s debut software. He also stated that the product will gain great support from Microsoft, at least one Assassin’s Creed and games like Final Fantasy VII Remake in the future.
Nintendo Switch 2 will follow the path of its predecessor
“I hear the reveal will focus almost exclusively on the console itself. There will be no games present”, explained the insider. At the same time, he clarified that “there may be a game running on the screen”, but launch software will not be a focus of the first Nintendo Switch 2 announcement.
This would be a similar path to what the company adopted with the current model, which hit stores in March 2017. Before revealing which games would arrive for the console, in 2016 it released a trailer focused solely on detailing the new hardware and explaining how it differed from the Wii U.
According to NateTheHate’s expectations, the new model could be launched in May or June this year, information that was confirmed by VGC. Among the platform’s debut software would be a new Mario Kart, and a new 3D adventure for the company’s mascot should arrive in 2025, but closer to the end of the year festivities.
