AMD prepares its next generation of GPUS to come with HDMI 2.2 support, but should not offer the full potential of technology. This is what states one of the latest rumors about architecture, coming from the well -known Insider Kepler (@kepler_L2) on social networks.

According to a “leak” post, AMD’s new video cards will use HDMI 2.2 in 64Gbps modes and 80gbps. Another user comments on the new HDMI reaching 96GBPs, and Kepler replies that AMD will only work with speeds up to 80gbps on its GPUs.

As mentioned in the conversation, the company’s next architecture is currently known as GFX13, and we still don’t know what the generation’s trade name will be. While the normal trend would be to call the RDNA 5 GPUs, there is a possibility of the company to adopt the name UDNA right in its next signs.

AMD intends to unify its GPUS architectures

It is important to remember that last year, in September, AMD officially announced that it would unify its domestic GPUS architecture and used in AI accelerators and other commercial segments. That is, we will no longer have RDNA for Radeon or CDNA for Instinct, but UDNA for all.

We do not know yet if the decision is already valid in the next generation of video signs of the company. As unification is relatively recent, perhaps a possible RDNA 5 generation will still appear before we see the first UDNA for domestic GPUs.

None of the Radeon will enjoy the full potential of HDMI 2.2?

We are still in the phase of the first leaks for the next generation of AMD video cards, so much can change, even though the rumors are correct.

In any case, Kepler mentions only GFX13 architecture, without distinguishing between traditional Radeon models and Radeon Pro plates aimed at workstations. There is then a possibility of 96GBP HDMI 2.2 appears on plates. This is what AMD did with Displayport 2.1 in the current generation.

Speaking of Displayport, we still have no mention if the new technology will support the 2.1B Displayport or not. Unlike the new HDMI standard, this update does not increase the data transmission band, but now supports 80gbps on longer cables.
