Nothing has revealed an interesting new version of its Phone 2A Plus, called the Phone 2A Plus Community Edition. This new model has a different look, with a design that glows in the dark and completely personalized packaging.
It got its name because it was part of a project involving co-creation by some fans and followers of the brand, where they were able to participate in a contest so they could give ideas for a new smartphone. And that was the winning idea. Check out more details!

The Nothing Phone 2A Plus Community Edition has brightness that doesn’t consume energy
The concept for the Phone 2A Plus Community Edition emerged from a contest held by Nothing, encouraging the community to “imagine their own smartphone”. The competition generated more than 900 entries, where participants were able to customize both the look of the phone and ideas about how it would be promoted.
The highlight of the design is the phosphorescent finish on the back of the phone. Created by Astrid Vanhuyse and Kenta Akasaki, in collaboration with Adam Bates and Lucy Birley, from Nothing, the greenish material glows in the dark without consuming energy from the device’s battery.
Nothing explains that the phosphorescent material only needs natural light to “recharge” and can emit a soft glow for hours, bringing a unique and striking look in dark environments. Additionally, the rear design includes three light strips around the cameras, maintaining the phone’s original functionality.
Packaging and marketing have also been reimagined
The packaging of the new Nothing Phone 2A Plus Community Edition also went through the reimagination process, and ended up being reinterpreted by Ian Henry Simmonds, who incorporated reflective elements and a macro cutout of the phone itself.
To accompany the updated design, the special edition will also feature a collection of wallpapers called the “Connected Collection”, created by Andrés Mateos and the software designers at Nothing. Using design tools and artificial intelligence, they developed six harmonized wallpapers that complement the look of the smartphone.
The marketing campaign, titled “Find your light. Capture your light”, was developed by Sonya Palma and reinforces the bright and innovative theme of this edition. This strategy seeks to further connect fans to the phone’s unique concept.
Although this is the first time Nothing has invited its community to co-create hardware, the initiative is not the brand’s only creative collaboration. Previous projects include a partnership with sub-brand CMF and Bambu Lab, which encouraged CMF Phone 1 users to design 3D-printed accessories and devices for the phone. This tradition of involving fans in the creative process is a distinguishing feature of Nothing, which ends up bringing even more attention to the company in a positive way.
Price and availability
The new Nothing Phone 2A Plus Community Edition caught the attention of many users, but those interested will have to work hard to get their hands on one. It turns out that the company revealed that it will be limited edition and only 1,000 units will be manufactured for sale.
In terms of specifications, they only said that the smartphone has 12GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, but what they hinted at is that everything else will be similar to the Nothing 2A Plus.
On the website they indicate sales in Europe, Japan, the Middle East, India, South Asia, USA, Canada, Mexico, Taiwan and Korea. The price remains on average at £399, which in direct conversion is around R$3,000.
