New Steam research shows AMD CPUS advance and RTX 5070 fast growth

Steam’s monthly hardware research always offers interesting insights about component popularity for the PC that players are effectively using on their machines. The last edition has been published recently and shows relevant news for AMD and GPUS Nvidia CPUS.

AMD has followed the rhythm “slowly and always” in the processor segment for household computers. In recent months the increase in its presence on PCs of Steam survey participants has shown constant growth, and now has exceeded the 40% – 40.39% mark to be accurate. It is a growth of 0.74% compared to June.

This indicates that Intel does not stop falling. Only five years ago the company had 77% presence on PCs of research participants, and is now below 60%, closing July with 59.52% of the systems.

Unfortunately Steam does not offer information about specific processor models used (as it does with GPUs), but it is thought that the X3D models of AMD Ryzen processors were an incentive in their latest success.

RTX 5070 is the most popular Blackwell model in Steam research

Every month Steam research reveals that in absolute numbers, cheaper models of GPUS are the most popular. For the month of July 2025 the RTX 3060 is the plaque that appeared the most, with 4.62% of the systems. Soon after comes the RTX 4060 in notebooks and RTX 4060 in desktops, with 4.43% and 4.39%, respectively.

However, these older plates have a very small growth each month, or even a decrease in use. Newer GPUS are growing faster, especially the RTX 5070.

The video card is the most popular RTX 50 option of Steam research currently, present in 1.32% of the machines of the response. It is a growth of 0.33% compared to last month, the most significant increase among all research GPU models.

The second fastest growing plate was the RTX 5060, with a growth of 0.26% to reach only 0.60% of participating machines.
