The digital storage industry can gain a new format capable of joining high performance and extremely reduced dimensions. Chinese manufacturers are preparing a type of SSD the size of an operator chipwhich can be used on portables, tablets, cell phones and other devices, with installation similar to that of a SIM card.
The new model, called Mini SSD by the manufacturer Biwin and “1517” by another supplier, only measures 15 mm x 17 mm x 1,4 mm. This makes it a little larger than a microSD card, but much smaller than the traditional M.2 used in notebooks and PCs.
Despite the size, the performance is high: Up to 3,700 MB/S of Reading e 3,400 MB/s of recordingthanks to the interface PCIe 4×2. The capacity options range from 512 GB to 2 tb.
