Summary
- Apple will use custom templates from Google’s Gemini to enhance Siri, with an architecture divided into an order planner, summary generator, and knowledge system.
- Integration with Gemini will be discreet and unannounced, with the aim of filling gaps in Apple models that are not sufficient to fully work.
- The new Siri is expected to launch in iOS 26.4 between March and April 2026, after delays due to the unsatisfactory quality of the generative AI announced in 2024.
Apple will even resort to a new strategy to put advanced artificial intelligence features into Siri: using Gemini. According to the Bloombergthe iPhone maker will use a customized version of Google’s AI models on its servers.
The new version of Apple’s assistant will have an architecture divided into three distinct components: an order planner, a summary generator and a knowledge system.
According to the 9to5Macthe order planner and summary generator will use Gemini as a base. Regarding the knowledge system, there is still some uncertainty about this, but it is most likely that it will have the same fate.

Still with this knowledge system, the idea is that it has information on various subjects and is capable of answering general questions, without returning basic answers, such as those that begin with “see what I found on the web about this subject”.
These models will run in the cloud, using Apple’s Private Cloud Compute framework, which works under the premise of not sharing data with any external services. The user’s personal information must remain on the device itself, with processing by the apple brand’s foundational models.
The information comes from journalist Mark Gurman, an expert on Apple matters. He states that this integration will not be announced or promoted by the two companies, working only behind the scenes.
The idea is to use a version of Gemini customized by Google itself to fill crucial gaps, as the Cupertino giant’s large-scale language models (LLMs) are not good enough to do all the work.
News about a migration to Google models was already circulating in August 2025, when Apple would be testing homemade and external alternatives.
According to sources with knowledge of the matter, there was a dispute between Anthropic and Google, with the former delivering better results, but the latter making more sense financially. In the end, the hammer was dropped with the decision for Gemini.
New Siri should arrive in March or April 2026
The expectation is that Apple will include its new personal assistant in iOS 26.4, which should be released between March and April 2026. It must be able to understand contexts and perform actions based on the user’s personal information.
Siri with generative AI has suffered a major delay. It was announced at WWDC 2024, which took place in June of that year, with the expectation that it would be part of Apple Intelligence in iOS 18, but this did not happen.
Craig Federighi, the company’s main software executive, admitted that the delay was due to the tool not reaching the desired level of quality for the brand’s standard.
